Rome

In April I spent the Easter weekend in Rome. It is a very impressive city, and the smell of the ancient roman empire is everywhere! The Vatican demonstrates its amazing power and wealth in a way which left me back with mixed feelings, given the current ignorance to rising problems within the catholic church.
On the other hand, seeing the people at St. Peters square, the priests and the nuns from around the world who have gathered to celebrate Easter somehow reconciled me - these people showed spirit and warmth.
Hence, my choice of music somewhat reflects these feelings.
Music from Hans Zimmer, "Roll Tide Hymn"
Shot with Lumix GH1, kitlens, 1080p24, smooth film mode (all on -2) and DIY slider. This is pre- hack footage.
Have fun!

A 1080p video shot with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the Canon EOS Rebel T2i at 29.97fps. Edited with Final Cut Pro 6 and used the Canon E-1 Movie Plugin to utilize the AppleProRes422 transcoding feature. Used Compressor to get a 483mb H264 file.
These are sights and sounds of Florence and Rome. This is only one of many Italian videos featuring Canon HD dslrs.

It was a surprise!! We decided at the last moment, one day before, to go to Rome, the eternal city.
The weather was correct, everyone know that it's a marvellous, wonderful,... city.
We wanted to film this Rome with our vision on 48h and lot of detail.
Benoit XVI was very funny.
It was on october, and filmed with the sony FX1000 and the panasonic hdc-sd9.

Rome never fails to amaze. It's an incredible concoction -- old rests next to new, the whole thing just hums.

I traveled quite lightly, taking just a messenger bag that held all of my clothes plus my camera body, two lenses and an intervalometer. With street photography it's crucial your kit is to hand just in case something amazing crops up. I don't even want to think of what I missed this time around...
